Relationship to me: He is not a direct ancestor of mine as he was the brother of my 4 gts.grandmother. However a few comments are offered in view of his connections with Smithills Hall, Bolton.

Birth: Peter Ainsworth was born in 1736 in Bolton, Lancashire.

Father: Peter Ainsworth whose occupation was a Bleacher
Mother: Alice Ainsworth (nee Galland)

Early Life:
The family lived The Holcroft near St.George's Church, Bolton.

Occupation:
On the death of his father in 1780 he took over the Halliwell Bleachworks.

Siblings: It is known he had at least 10 siblings.

Marriage:
He married Alice ASPINALL at St.George's, Bolton on 17 July 1761.

Children:
1.Richard 1762 in Bolton. Richard marr. Sarah Noble of Lancaster. He died April 5th 1833.

Places of Residence: He lived at Lightbounds House, Bolton. Later he became very rich from the Bleachworks he had inherited from his father and he purchased the lovely old Mansion called Smithills Hall, at Halliwell Bolton.

Death: Peter died in 1807 and was buried at St.George's Church.
